The Matouk name stands for more than a business; it represents three generations of our family realizing a dream. It also stands for our larger family, the craftspeople in our factory, our inspiring designers, our partners around the world—who know they’re a part of something special. We bring out the best in one another, creating, producing, and exploring in a community of mutual respect.

Born in Damascus, the son of a fine jeweler, John Matouk developed his taste and respect for workmanship in Syria, Italy, and China. Matouk & Co. began the day he arrived in the United States in 1929, determined to import world-class linens and embroidery to the American market. The company quickly built a reputation for its high-quality products, dependable business practices, and innovation. When imports were cut off during WWII, John opened his first factory in New York and engineered a special blend of mohair, rayon, and cotton, creating Matouk’s first signature tablecloth. Later, Matouk & Co. expanded its business, importing table linens from around the world.                    

George Matouk Jr. absorbed the lessons of his father and grandfather: to partner time-honored techniques with the very best materials while keeping an eye toward the future. For today’s generation, that means minimizing environmental impact and promoting a healthy workplace. The company’s Fall River headquarters is now powered by clean solar energy and features state-of-the-art production tools. As George Jr. leads the brand into the future, he works to uphold Matouk’s reputation for beauty and craft while seeking new ways to save energy and protect the environment.

The elegant geometry of Moroccan tiles served as the inspiration for our latest couture style. Aziza – a name that translates to “beloved” – features an intricate zig-zag appliqué cut from our Nocturne sateen and sewn onto our exceptional Milano sheeting, a 600 thread count Egyptian cotton percale.
