Bernardaud AUX OISEAUX Gravy boat

All the birds are already here… The “Aux Oiseaux” dinner service from Bernardaud shows a colourful flock of birds all elegantly perched on gilt branches. Fluttering high above them on the fine Limoges porcelain are colourful butterflies.

The imaginative Bernardaud décor, reminiscent of the methods used for old Japanese prints, was inspired by curiosity cabinets. It was in these so-called “chamber of wonders”, a sort of precursor to the modern museum, that objects from a variety of origins were presented in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. Our feathered friends were among them.

Used for all sweet or savory sauces: lemon juice, "mousseline", mayonnaise, English custard...
